Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:

Theatre Lab is committed to inclusive casting. We are seeking submission for artists that are female-identifying.  We encourage submissions from professional artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities. We welcome artists of all race/ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations and body types to apply. If there are any accessibility obstacles (language, disability, or any other considerations) preventing you from applying to audition please let us know and we will work with you to overcome them.

 Additional information:
Performers with a comedic/acting/dance or a clowning background. Being a skilled dancer is not a requirement. No experience in burlesque required.

Due to the nature of the performance style, must be comfortable with partial nudity (pasties and underwear) and must be comfortable with sexual content and audience interaction (striptease).

Must be comfortable with sharing personal experiences, collaborating, writing and at times choreographing your own pieces for the show. 

Must be available for part-time rehearsal in November/December 2019, the Next Stage Theatre Festival (Jan 8-19, 2020) and sporadic touring (Until Feb. 16, 2020)

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Please come prepared with a 1-2min piece of your own creation. It can be a burlesque routine, clown routine, or movement piece. We are interested in seeing pieces that are sexy, comedic, political, satirical, feminist, silly, subversive, narrative, or dramatic. Regardless of what form the piece takes – the piece should have a strong point of view in order to get a feel for the performer

Please be prepared to do a cold read from provided sides.

**Nudity is not required in the audition process**
