Collective Studio
(2012-2020)
Collective Studio was a rehearsal and community space run by Theatre Lab.
In 2012, we noticed a major lack of affordable creation spaces in Toronto, and we decided to do something about it. Our belief was that when artists help other artists, we can all reap the rewards. After 8 years of creation and community work, we closed the studio in 2020.
“So many established writers and artists behave like selfish brats to kids coming up. Like there isn’t enough space for all of us. When the opposite is true. The more artists you help champion the more space you help create.”
The Wall
We commissioned Zach from Dawn by Day Arts to reimagine our north-facing wall to better represent the Junction Triangle community we were so proud to call home. We wanted urban renewal, not gentrification.
